Psalms are chanted several times a day in most monastic communities. The collection of monastic liturgical music is beyond the scope of this project. Rather, here is a collection of psalm tones as used by monasteries in the United States. Not all monasteries are represented and there may be mistakes or inaccuracies in the ones that are. Feel free to contact us to suggest a correction or submit a psalm tone.
One of the most popular sets of plainchant tones are those created by several monks from Saint Meinrad. The chant settings are used in monasteries, religious communities, and parishes all across the United States. The archabbey website has a wealth of information on liturgical music, not just psalm tones.
